Metro FM Awards announces nominees for MMA24
This year’s nominees for Metro FM Awards, which takes place at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on the 27th of April 2024, have been announced and Internationally recognised singer, Tyla leads the pack with 6x nominations for her 2023 hit single titled ‘Water’. These nominations feature musical singles and projects released between 28 February 2023 and 28 February 2024.
The ‘Water’ hitmaker is nominated for Best Music Video, Song Of The Year, Artist Of The Year, Best Viral Challenge and Best Female Artist while Kabza De Small and Tyler ICU represent Amapiano as they come second with both accumulating 5 nominations. Kabza the Small received nominations for Best Produced Album, Best Collaboration, Song of the Year, Best Amapiano – all for his collaborative song ‘Imithandazo’ with Mthunzi, featuring Young Stunna, Sizwe Alakine, Umthakathi Kush & DJ Maphorisa. Tyler ICU’s five nominations include Best Collaboration, Song of the Year, Best Viral Challenge, Best Amapiano – all for his collaborative single titled ‘Mnike’, with Tumelo ZA, which features DJ Maphorisa, Nandipha808, Ceeka RSA and Tyron Dee.
Metro FM awards run under the theme of Black Is Future, which cries to act in pursuit for black joint progression through creative expression as it celebrates the achievements and contributions of black artists in the music industry by roping in their influence, impact, creativity and excellence.
The Metro FM Awards are set to take place at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on 27 April 2024 and will broadcast live on SABC 1, Mzansi Fo Sho.

The METRO FM Awards 2024 are brought to you by the Mpumalanga Provincial Government, in association with the Motsepe Foundation. In the effort to continuously add more value to the awards the winners of each category will receive R50 000, and the Song of the year winner will walk away with R150 000, courtesy of Motsepe Foundation. In addition, SANTAM is sponsoring the Best New Artist category.
