SHOUT TO KINGKANI

Even before I knew, KingKani, that we are from the same hood, Villiersdorp but part of me felt like that the man is not acknowledged enough. I regard him as a conscious rapper because what he utters is the actual state of our reality even the environment we are born in is prone and fanatical to crime and social nauseates that multitudes our community. KingKani is a South African Rapper whose real name is Elam Nukanii and we are both from the small town of Villiersdorp. My favorite song from his catalogue would be The Light[ dropped in 2020} which features Chanice, the reason for me to say that is because how he reflect on the history of our people and how they were downgraded by the ropes that bended them to perpetual attitude that refers them as inferior also the stories he tells about the current generation “ Dropped out of school 'cause they wasn't able To learn about Hitler, all they knew was Hector Pieterson. Blood, sweat, tears of the people, Deeply embedded in all of our arteries, Feeding us bullshxt, we still live in poverty. People are dying, they are fighting in parliament. Mense corrupt and they vriet on their own, With this rap I will feed my own”. I just love the concept of the song, even what he utters showcases how he seeks the Light.

My second favorite song of his would be Say Less. To be quite honest, I never had full sight of him being on bar tier songs until I was with him and Illspitter in the studio then I had that sight but Say Less cemented the sight and if there is one thing that I love about this man is how he delivers and his work ethics. Shout out to him for having a great influence to me. If you want to know more about Villiersdorp wordsmith, follow him up on @kingkani.uno
