ON: CAPE TOWN ENTERTAINMENT
Normally, it usually take me 2 or 3 hours to write a blog but this one made me think deep about what I am about to utter as it will reflect on the love that I have for Cape Town, in large, Entertainment. Second piece of this blog will elaborate on my greatest wishes and how I have vowed myself as Activist that loves to utter, purely, about the Cape Town Music scene. In an industry such as Music, it’s beautiful to have constructive, opposing and positive views that will better the game regardless of who holds the power or not. I love the fact that Cape Town Music is growing, statically and artistically. As from yesterday that I posted that the first occurrence of Church Grooves Live Sessions, curated by Shaya Records, is on brink of reaching 1M Views. The occurrence was part of campaigning for SAMA27 in category of BEST GQOM ALBUM. Unfortunately, they didn’t win the awards.
As we are living on digital age and space, we are slowly getting enlighten about these such awards gatherings on how they work in terms of panning out such results as result of the Cape Town duo” Mshayi & Mr Thela” not winning. As I have said on beginning of this blog that in an industry such as Music, sometimes the results might be not representative to what circulating. I love the fact that Cape Town Music is growing, artistically and statically. You know, when I had an idea of implementing “CAPE TOWN HIP HOP DINING TABLE” is because from my point of view was that the issue of discovery and exploring different artists is not confined to small communities.
I could not blame the unprivileged artists for thinking like that because we know how Cape Town, in large, is prone and specialized to crime and all social ills that plague our communities. In the past two years, Cape Town Music Scene has risen to some sort of acceptance and cheerful because creatives like Bravo Le Roux, Shaya Records camp, K.Keed, Dee Koala, SimulationRxps and more of those who have made the music goers to pay attention and acknowledge. Yes, you don’t have to seek for validation from anyone but in a form of an artist, it’s no secret that you have to seek for it as it will better your craft and following. I have so much to say about Cape Town Entertainment as it have attracted me in a way that I never thought of. I never thought that one day, I will share my ideas with those who will utilize those ideas but the entertainment permits me to do so. On 19 June 2022, I am paying visit to Grabouw artists such as Lrxd Phakzah, Mearth and VT then on Monday, I will share my experience on how it went.
